I lyset af, i skyggen af
I lyset af, I skyggen af In (english: ‘In the light of, In the shadow of) explores the the influence of light and shadow on perception.
This series was created a desire to convey existential experiences related to shifts in the nervous system’s homeostasis, following a severe concussion. It is an attempt to expand painting so it can hold multiple dimensions—forms of life and movement that reflect how every experience contains layered realities, shaped by the way it is illuminated.
The work explores how altered sensory states—where familiar bodily rhythms and perceptual filters are disrupted—can give rise to new encounters, or “interference patterns,” with one’s surroundings. Within the discomfort of this internal “chaos” or darkness, moments of light, sensitivity, and openness begin to emerge, enabling unexpected connections with the non-human world—in this case, a grand old weeping beech tree.
